PARK CITY, Utah, July 26, 2026 (Gephardt Daily) — Court documents filed in a July 24 Park City murder case say the man arrested called the victim “a reptilian” before the fatal stabbing.
Austin Kenneth Garceau, 38, was booked into the Summit County jail for the alleged murder of Damon Dae Enman, according to court documents filed by an officer of the Park City Police Department. Both men were from Salt Lake County.
The call came to dispatch at 8:27 a.m. July 24, which was Friday. The caller was at a residence on Deer Valley Drive.
“The caller identified himself as Damon and said that he had been stabbed by Austin,” the arrest document says.
Responding officers “entered the residence and located Damon Dae Enman suffering from an apparent deep stab wound to his chest and Austin Garceau, identified by his Utah driver’s license, suffering from an apparent laceration to his arm.”
A witness, identified as K.L., “reported to investigators that Austin had a knife, said that Damon was a reptilian, and then stabbed Damon. Damon said, ‘K.L., stop him like he’s going to kill me. I’m dying.’ K.L. said he ran and tried to get the knife out of Austin’s hand, but Austin was bigger than him and he was scared.
“K.L. jumped on Austin’s back and told him to drop it and gave him a bear hug. K.L. kept telling him to drop it repeatedly. Austin dropped the knife and said, ‘What did I do?'”
Another person at the residence, identified in court documents as W.W., gave an account that started a little earlier. He told investigators he was upstairs at the residence “and heard Austin yelling and grunting, so he went downstairs. W.W. saw that Austin had jumped on an unknown male and a physical altercation was occurring.”
W.W. and K.L. helped pull Garceau off Enman, the document says. Once the altercation was stopped, W.W. began to walk back upstairs.
“He then saw Austin walking toward the kitchen and heard him pull a knife from a butcher block,” the arrest document says. “He said the sound was very distinct. Once W.W. was back upstairs, he heard Austin say something to the effect of someone being ‘a reptilian’ and then heard another person say they had been stabbed.”
Medical personnel transported Damon to the University of Utah Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased at 10:37 a.m. July 25.
The filing officer attended Damon’s autopsy and stated in the arrest document that the medical examiner who performed the autopsy “told me that he planned to rule the manner of death as homicide with the cause being multiple sharp force injuries.”
Garceau was booked for investigation of alleged murder, a first-degree felony, and is being held without bail.
