WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah, July 26, 2026 (Gephardt Daily) — West Valley City police arrested a 27-year-old Magna man Sunday for felony discharge of a firearm causing a bodily injury.
Josue Rodolfo Molina Lic was taken into custody after the alleged incident, listed as a second-degree felony, which reportedly happened Saturday night.
West Valley City police responded to an address in that city after a report of a man shot in the foot, and a shooter who had fled. Bullet fragments were found on the scene.
The victim, identified in court documents as M.A.M., was taken to Intermountain Medical Center to be treated for injuries to his foot.
M.A.M. told investigators the suspect said in Spanish “You are dead,” and fired two shots, which resulted in the victim’s foot injuries, says an arrest document for Josue Rodolfo Molina Lic.
M.A.M. identified the shooter as Molina. A records check showed that on Sept. 25, 2025, M.A.M. reported a stolen firearm, and Molina was later taken into custody in connection with the investigation, the court document says.
Molina was contacted by police, and confirmed he had seen M.A.M. Saturday night, and he said M.A.M. had attacked him.
“Josue said he was punched, but it did not hurt. Josue said he took an Uber straight home and did not go anywhere else,” the arrest document says.
“Josue said he does go to the range frequently, and likes shooting. Josue confirmed he was alone with M.A.M. in the street where the shooting occurred during the time the shooting occurred, though he denied shooting M.A.M.”
Molina is being held without bail in the Salt Lake County jail.
