MOUNTAIN GREEN, Utah, Feb. 26, 2024 (Gephardt Daily) — Two Utah drivers escaped serious injury after colliding with a fully grown moose.

According to statement posted on social media by the Mountain Green Fire Protection District, the crash happened Sunday night on Old Highway Road.

“The moose was struck by one car and crashed into the windshield,” the post said.

It then “bounced off and was struck by another car (heading) in the opposite direction.”

The driver of the first vehicle which hit the moose sustained only a cut on the hand, the post says.

The driver of the second vehicle was uninjured.

“Almost a ton of moose could have caused very serious injuries,” the MGFPD post said.

Photos posted on Facebook showed just severe the initial impact was and why the moose did not survive.

The driver of the first vehicle also posted on Facebook, saying, “I was extremely lucky that I only had a small cut on my hand and walked away from it. A special thank you to all who stopped by to ensure I was alright! Thank you for your service and kindness.”
