MURRAY, Utah, Aug. 4, 2025 (Gephardt Daily) — Police have identified the woman killed in a dual hit-and-run incident captured on camera last week in Murray.
Kimberley Jean Jespersen, 53, was fatally injured late Wednesday night, July 31, after being struck by two separate vehicles while crossing 4500 South near State Street, the Murray Police Department confirmed Monday.
The incident occurred shortly after 11 p.m. Police say Jespersen was initially struck in a minor collision with a vehicle turning east onto 4500 South from southbound State Street while she was in the crosswalk. Surveillance footage appears to show Jespersen standing at the driver’s side window of the stopped vehicle when the eastbound light turned green.
As traffic began moving, a dark-colored truck traveling eastbound on 4500 South appears to swerve to avoid the stopped vehicle and struck Jespersen. Both vehicles continued eastbound without stopping, police said.
Jespersen sustained critical injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital, where she later died.
Investigators are continuing to review surveillance video in an effort to identify the vehicles involved. The truck is believed to have front or passenger-side damage. The first vehicle is described as a dark-colored hatchback-style passenger car.
Anyone with information about the incident is urged to contact Murray Police at 801-840-4000 and reference case number MR2025-23474.
