Park City Man Dies During Wasatch Back Relay RaceĀ

PARADISE, UTAH – June 19, 2015 (Gephardt Daily) — A Park City man died Friday morning while running in the RAGNAR Wasatch Back Relay Race.

The Cache County Sheriff’s Office says they received a call at 8:11 am Friday with a report one of the runners, Tyler Rasch, 46, had collapsed while running through the small town of Paradise.

Joseph Beard, an off-duty paramedic from Murray City was driving a support vehicle for another team and saw Rasch collapse. He and other paramedics immediately began life saving measures, but Rasch was pronounced dead after being transported to Logan Regional Medical Center.

The cause of Rasch’s death has yet to be determined.

The famed RAGNAR Wasatch Back Relay is a long-distance race for teams of 12 who cover a grueling 200 miles during a two and half day event. The race began Friday morning in Logan and ends Saturday at Soldier Hollow.
