Police: Suspects threaten man with knives, steal car, cellphone in Salt Lake City

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, Jan. 9, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) – Police are searching for suspects who allegedly held a knife to a man’s throat before stealing his car and cellphone Tuesday night.

The incident happened in the parking lot of Horizonte Instruction and Training Center at 1234 S. Main St. just before 9:40 p.m., the Salt Lake City Police Department said in a news release.

“A man parked his vehicle in the parking lot of Horizonte and walked across the street to look at cars in a dealership,” the news release said.

“When he returned to his vehicle, two Hispanic male adults and one Hispanic female adult approached the victim and asked for money. When he said that he didn’t have any, one of the suspects held a knife to his throat while the other held a knife down by their side. The suspects told the victim that they would ‘kill him,’ while they stole his phone and his car.”

The suspects left the area in the vehicle.

The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
