SLCPD Seeks To Find Truck, Driver Involved In Bicyclist Death

SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH – November 6, 2015 (Gephardt Daily) — Police are looking for help to identify and locate the dump truck and driver involved in a collision that killed a bicyclist.

A statement from the Salt Lake City Police Department said bicyclist Anthony Johnson was riding north on Redwood Road at 200 South, nearing the I-80 eastbound on-ramp on Wednesday, October 28, at 6:49 a.m. “At the same time, a dump truck pulling a trailer was also traveling north and made a right turn onto the eastbound I-80 on-ramp,” the statement said. “Bicyclist Johnson was struck by the rear trailer and sustained fatal injuries. The dump truck driver continued east on I-80 and may not know he was involved in this tragic accident.”

Police are requesting community support to identify this dump truck. The truck was on 500 South prior to making the left turn onto Redwood Road from 400 South. Anyone who has information on the dump truck, the trucking company or who witnessed the event is asked to contact SLCPD.
