Street Sweeper Has Blowout and Collides with Pole on I-215

SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH – July 31, 2015 (Gephardt Daily) – UHP said a street sweeper had a blowout and collided with a pole on the I-215 west belt route near 3500 South this afternoon.

Sgt. Larry Mower from UHP said: “It looks like there was a blowout on the steer tire of the street sweeper and the driver lost control, veered off the road and hit head on with a sign pole. The driver was transported to IMC in critical condition, but it sounds like he’s going to be OK.”

The accident closed only the far right lane, and that was expected to be re-opened at around 3 p.m. Sgt. Mower said the UHP wants to re-iterate that it appreciates drivers being slow and courteous and always wearing their seat belts. “We’re appreciative it was only a single vehicle, it could have been a lot worse,” said Mower.
