Update: Officials ID drivers in head-on collision near Green River

GREEN RIVER, Utah, Jan. 11, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — Utah Highway Patrol officials have identified the two drivers who lost their lives in a head-on collision on State Route 6 on Friday morning.

The deceased have been identified as Jim R. Nelson, 37, of Price, and William James T. Palmer, 33, of Moab.

The accident occurred at 7:25 a.m., when a westbound Ford F150 driven by Palmer and an eastbound Toyota Camry driven by Nelson collided near mile marker 296 near Green River, according to a UHP news release.

Nelson died at the scene.

Palmer was transported to the hospital, where he later died of his injuries.

UHP says fog likely contributed to the crash.

Their investigation is ongoing.
