BEAVER, Utah, June 15, 2024 (Gephardt Daily) — A prescribed burn that turned into a wildfire Thursday about 4 miles southeast of Beaver has grown to 1,000 acres, state wildfire officials said.

The Little Twist Fire is burning in steep, rugged terrain and remains 0% contained, according to Utah Fire Info.

Smoke from the fire is visible from Interstate 15, I-70 and U.S. 89.

“Today, firefighters will be scouting for areas to safely implement direct and/or indirect fire line utilizing natural barriers and favorable fuel types which provide the greatest opportunity to work towards successful containment of the fire both safely and effectively,” the Central Utah Interagency Fire Organization said in a news release Saturday.

Motorists are asked to avoid accessing Forest Road No. 137 (Kents Lake Road), the Kents Lake, Anderson Meadow and Lebaron campgrounds, as well as the South Creek area.
