WASHINGTON, Dec. 24 (UPI) — At least 10 people died overnight as intense storms and tornadoes moved through the South and Midwest, and more thunderstorms were forecast for Thursday in the region.A few strong to severe storms may manifest along a cold front from the southern Middle Atlantic to parts of the Gulf Coast on Thursday, with a probability of damaging wind gusts, heavy rain and brief tornadoes also taking occurring. Several flood warnings were in effect.On Friday, strong to severe storms may continue along the cold front from northwest Georgia toward eastern Texas and Louisiana.”The threat for severe thunderstorms may remain relatively concentrated for a few more hours over parts of Georgia and Alabama,” the National Weather Service forecast for Thursday.
“A more marginal widely dispersed risk for severe storms exists from parts of the Mid-Atlantic region southwestward across the southern Appalachians to east Texas.”
