Body found by hiker just off trail in Memory Grove; no foul play suspected

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, Dec.  4, 2016 (Gephardt Daily) — No foul play is suspected after a hiker found a deceased man just off a trail in Memory Grove Sunday afternoon, police said.

Lt. Justin Hudson with Salt Lake City Police Department said the hiker made the discovery just about a half-mile from the entrance to Memory Grove, approximately 300 North, between 120 East and A Street, at approximately 2:30 p.m. Sunday.

The hiker immediately called 911, and police found the body was near a transient camp in the woods.

Hudson said at this time the cause of death is unknown, but no foul play is suspected.

The body will be transported to the Utah Office of the Medical Examiner to determine a cause of death.

The deceased man has not yet been identified pending notification of family members.
