LOGAN, Utah, May 24, 2026 (Gephardt Daily) — After a SWAT call-out and a shelter-in-place alert to residents, police Saturday were asking the public to stay away overnight from what is still a crime scene at 400 W 1100 N.
Officers were called to the address after multiple 911 callers reported shots fired, police finding a vehicle with bullet holes and casings scattered nearby, according to a Logan City Police Department 6 p.m. press release.
“A reverse 911 call was made to have area residents shelter in place and SWAT teams were called.”
Both were rescinded after a male suspect believed to be the shooter was taken into custody, police said. People in the car that was the target of gunfire were uninjured.
Assisting agencies that responded included the Brigham City Police Department, 25 miles to the south, the Cache County Sheriff’s Office, Utah State University Police Department, Cache County Attorney’s Office and the Logan Fire Department.
“Detectives are still on scene conducting an active investigation interviewing witnesses and other individuals who were involved,” Logan police said.
“We request the public avoid the area for the rest of the evening as much as possible.”
Some of the 911 callers were involved in the incident, police said, while other witnessed the apparent dispute that led to shots being fired.
No suspects are believed to be outstanding, the department assured, and no information suggests any active threat to the community.
