MESQUITE, Nev., June 8, 2026 (Gephardt Daily) — Mesquite police have called incredible the aid and support for 114 dogs seized in a raid, as a network of volunteers and professionals from Nevada and Utah stepped up.

They include the Ogden-based Humane Society of Northern Utah and RSQ Dogs + of St. George.

“The Mesquite Police Department is pleased to share a positive update regarding the 114 dogs recently rescued during our animal neglect investigation,” the department said online.

“Thanks to an incredible outpouring of support, five rescue organizations and animal welfare partners have stepped forward to help provide these dogs with a second chance at life.”

All 114 dogs have been examined by a veterinarian, vaccinated, police said, and found to be healthy and suitable for adoption since their May 19 seizure subsequent to the arrest of two Mesquite residents after an investigation of several months.

The Nevada rescue agencies involved are Henderson Animal Care and Control, Pawsitive Difference Las Vegas, and Path 4 Paws, also of Las Vegas.

“This outcome would not have been possible without the dedication of our Animal Control Officers, shelter staff, rescue partners, veterinarians, volunteers and community members who donated supplies, time and money,” Mesquite police said. “Your support has made a tremendous difference in the lives of these animals.”

Arrested May 19 were Giustino Laudando and Michelle Santos, charged with eight counts of felony animal cruelty and 100 + counts of animal neglect, a misdemeanor.
