PINEVIEW RESERVOIR, Utah, June 8, 2026 (Gephardt Daily) — A 13-year-old girl struck by a falling tree Saturday at Pineview reservoir suffered a traumatic injury, and is not expected to survive.

Weber Fire District and Sheriff’s Department first responders were called to the scene at about 2:15 p.m. Saturday, a Sheriff’s Department statement says. The call was regarding a tree that fell on several juveniles who were on Quist Beach.

“The first deputy on scene provided lifesaving efforts with the assistance of family and bystanders until Weber Fire District personnel arrived and took over patient care,” a WCSO news release says.

“The juvenile was transported to a local hospital in critical condition but is not expected to survive her injuries. Other children received non-life-threatening injuries.”

Weber County Sheriff’s Office detectives have been assigned to investigate the matter, and the case is
still ongoing.

“The Weber County Sheriff’s Office extends its sympathies to the juvenile and her family,” the statement says.

“We are thankful for the efforts of our deputies, family, bystanders, and EMS personnel who worked
quickly to do everything they could to try to save this juvenile’s life. No further information will be released at this time.”
