Who Else You Gonna Call? Channing Tatum

channingSony Pictures is looking to expand the “Ghosbusters” franchise in a big way. Deadline.com is reporting that, in addition to the all female re-boot set to start shooting in June with director Paul Feig at the helm, the studio is also forming Ghostcorp, a new production company whose principal players include original “Ghostbusters” alumni Dan Aykroyd and Iavan Reitman, who will be tasked with creating new branding opportunities based on the 1984 blockbuster.

Brothers Joe and Anthony Russo, the duo behind “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” (and who, like Feig, have a comedic background that includes directing early episodes of “Arrested Development”) have a first look deal to possibly direct and produce the film and Channing Tatum and his partners Reid Carolin and Peter Keirnan are already attached to produce. The idea is for Tatum to play one of the “Ghostbusters” in the film, which will be written by Drew Pearce, the “Iron Man 3” and “Mission Impossible 5” scribe.

How this film will connect, or not connect, to the reboot starring Kristen Wiig and Melissa McCarthy, has not yet been made clear. Is all of this new “Ghostbusters” news supernaturally exciting, or are we getting slimed? Leave your thoughts in the comments below.
