WEST JORDAN, Utah, Dec. 5, 2024 (Gephardt Daily) — A juvenile was taken into custody Thursday afternoon after police say he assaulted a staff member and a school resource officer (SRO) at West Jordan Middle School.
Officer Ramon Ramirez, a public information officer with the West Jordan Police Department, told Gephardt Daily that the incident, which led to a temporary school lockdown, was the result of a physical altercation with the juvenile, the unnamed school staff member, and the SRO.
During the scuffle, “the juvenile did end up assaulting the staff member and the police officer, and then was taken into custody,” Ramirez said.
Multiple West Jordan police officers responded to the scene while school went into lockdown for about 30 minutes, according to Ramirez.
There were no reports of injuries.
