SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, Jan. 5, 2025 (Gephardt Daily) — A man was booked into the Salt Lake County jail early Sunday after he allegedly used a gun to beat a man over a debt.
Hector Chacon, 31, was arrested at 1 a.m. Sunday for investigation of alleged:
- Aggravated robbery, a first-degree felony
- Aggravated kidnapping, a first-degree felony
- Aggravated assault resulting in serious bodily injury, a second-degree felony
- Category 1 restricted person with firearm, a second-degree felony
- Possession of controlled substances with intent to distribute, a second-degree felony
A man reported to Salt Lake City police that, on Friday, “he was threatened with a gun over an owed debt,” arrest documents say.
“Hector Chacon arrived at the location of the victim and struck him in the face multiple times with a handgun, causing a broken nose and a severe laceration to the victim’s eye. The victim suffered serious injuries to his face during the assault.
“The victim was being driven around and threatened with a gun and was in fear that he would be shot if he tried to escape. The victim was on the phone with 911 during part of the assault. The victim had money and his wallet (was) stolen from him during the assault.”
A search warrant was approved, and the victim’s driver license was located in Chacon’s bedroom, in his pants, charging documents say.
“Also during the search warrant, 30.2 grams of cocaine (field test positive), a scale and multiple small plastic zip lock baggies were located in (Chacon’s) bedroom along with a substantial amount of small denomination currency banded together by rubber bands. (Chacon) is currently on parole and is a category 1 restricted person.”
Chacon “is on parole and is accused of committing several aggravated violent felony offenses,” the SLCPD officer’s statement says.
Chacon was ordered held without bail.
