SOUTH SALT LAKE, Utah, July 26, 2026 (Gephardt Daily) — South Salt Lake Police were dispatched to an attempted ATM robbery early Sunday morning.
A man in a white pickup truck was reported trying to break into the ATM at Chase Bank, 2610 S. State. The complainant reportedly approached the man, who sped away.
South Salt Lake police Lt. David Wirthlin confirmed the 2:55 a.m. time and location.
“That’s all that we’re going to be able to release, and it’s going to be referred over to the FBI instead since it’s involving a bank,” he said.
Taylorsville police spotted the truck a short time later. According to unconfirmed reports from the scene, burglary tools and a mask were found in the vehicle.
