TACOMA, Dec. 22, 2015 (Gephardt Daily) — A little more than six years after her mysterious disappearance, the family of missing West Valley City mother Susan Powell has filed notice in federal court to appeal a lawsuit filed against Washington state’s Child Protective Services.

Susan’s parents, Chuck and Grady Cox, lost a previous suit, which claimed CPS was negligent for allowing their grandchildren visitation with their father, Josh Powell, because he was considered a person of interest in his wife’s disappearance.

In February of 2012, more than two years after Susan Powell vanished on Dec. 6, 2009, Josh Powell murdered his two young sons, Charlie and Braden, and then killed himself by blowing up his Washington state home.

After the children’s deaths, Chuck and Grady Cox maintained the state should have paid closer attention to Powell’s status as a possible suspect, but in October of 2015 a federal judge dismissed the suit, saying Washington’s Department of Social Health Service was immune to the legal action.

  1. I agree. It was well known that Josh was dangerous, by the way he acted, avoiding questions and things the West Valley neighbors observed about the way he treated Susan and the way he acted on the day she disappeared and the days after it happened. Once someone hasd killed someone, they usually don’t mind killing again.
