SALT LAKE COUNTY, Utah, Dec. 30, 2024 (Gephardt Daily) — Salt Lake County Sheriff officials and search and rescue crews are searching the area of Millcreek Canyon’s Porter Fork Trail on Monday after a report late Sunday of an overdue hiker.

“The Salt Lake County Sheriff’s Office search and rescue received a call on an overdue hiker in the Porter Fork area,” said SLCo Sheriff spokesman Chris Bronson, reading from a brief statement. “The search is currently underway, and we are shutting down the Porter Fork Trail while the search is being conducted.”

Bronson did say the search began Sunday and continues today, adding he did not have additional information about the age or gender of the person reported overdue.

Bronson said more information will be released as the case develops. Gephardt Daily will share any updates.
