SUMMIT COUNTY, Utah, June 11.2024 (Gephardt Daily) — An accident involving a semi truck led to a sticky situation Monday morning on Interstate 80 after hundreds of smashed watermelons were scattered across the highway.
According to a social media post by The Utah Department of Transportation, the “melon-choly” crash happened about 3 a.m. near Echo Reservoir in Summit County.
A picture shows the semi truck’s trailer parked along the highway with a huge gash on its side.
How it was was damaged not revealed.
“At 3 a.m. our team learned of this fruity spill and jumped into action in the early hours to reopen all lanes in time for the commute,” UDOT wrote in a cheeky Instagram post.
