ZIONS NATIONAL PARK, UTAH – October 4, 2015 (Gephardt Daily) – A St. George man has died after a canyoneering accident in Zion National Park Friday afternoon.
According to Washington County Sheriff’s Office personnel, 50-year-old Christian Louis Johnson suffered fatal injuries just after his first rappel into the canyon around 1 p.m.
Johnson was canyoneering with his husband, Everett Boutillet, and two other individuals when the accident happened.
Park Rangers were able to locate and recover his body several hours later.
The cause of the accident is not clear at this time.
