Susan Powell’s Father-In-Law Convicted On Child Porn Charges
TACOMA, WASHINGTON – July 13, 2015 (Gephardt Daily) –
Steven Powell, father-in-law of missing West Valley City woman, Susan Powell, has been found guilty of possessing child pornography.
The verdict was handed down Monday in a Tacoma, Washington courtroom where a jury deliberated just a few short hours before handing down its decision.
Powell’s conviction stems from a 2011 raid on his home in Washington state, where police discovered numerous photographs of neighborhood girls in compromising positions. The child porn charge was dismissed from the original trial, only to be reinstated during in an appellate court ruling.
The presiding judge in Powell’s trial ordered he be held without bail until his sentencing August 21. Steve Powell now faces up to five years in prison.
Susan Cox Powell, Steve’s former daughter-in-law, disappeared from her home in West Valley City, Utah back in December 2009 and has not been seen or heard from since.
Susan Powell’s husband, Josh Powell, was considered the prime suspect in the case, but was never formally charged.
Joshua Powell killed himself along with the couple’s two children in 2012.
