UTAH COUNTY, July 10, 2026 (Gephardt Daily) — The Timp Fire was discovered Friday morning in American Fork Canyon, above Tibble Fork.
It was initially estimated at about 5 acres.
“Firefighters are making an aggressive initial attack with multiple helicopters and numerous ground firefighting resources,” an 8:29 a.m. Utah Fire Info post says.
“Cause under investigation, still 0% contained.”
For public safety, Timpooneke Campground and Mutual Dell have been evacuated, and Tibble Fork Reservoir is closed, the statement says. Timpooneke Road is closed at Alpine Loop Road.
“The public is asked to not stop along the American Fork Canyon/Alpine Loop Road to watch the fire. Stopped vehicles create traffic hazards and can delay emergency response, making it more difficult for firefighters and emergency personnel to safely access the incident.”
Firefighters are working to contain the fire as quickly and safely as possible, the statement says.
“Please follow all closures and directions from law enforcement and fire personnel. Additional updates will be be provided as information becomes available.”
