HIDEOUT, Utah, Sept. 29. 2024 (Gephardt Daily) — A man found fatally shot in Wasatch County Thursday has been identified as a local resident.

The victim was Patrick L. Hayes, 61, of Hideout.

“An autopsy was performed and the State Medical Examiner’s Office determined the cause of death was homicide,” a statement from the Wasatch County Sheriff‘s Office says.

“Mr. Hayes was shot with a firearm and died at the scene. We have been working closely with the family of Mr. Hayes and are grateful for their cooperation and assistance.”

Hayes’ body was found outside a vehicle on the shoulder of the roadway near Ross Creek Trailhead, north of Jordanelle Reservoir.

Officials are looking for a second vehicle that may have been involved in the incident, a Jeep Gladiator or Rubicon, which likely has front-end damage.

“We call upon the individuals in the second vehicle to turn themselves in,” the initial statement from the WCSO says. “The sooner you turn yourselves in to deal with the situation the better.”

Anyone who may have information on the case is asked to call law enforcement at 435-454-1411.
