SANDY, Utah, July 15, 2024 (Gephardt Daily) — Major League Soccer on Monday suspended Real Salt Lake forward Cristian “Chicho” Arango four matches for violating the league’s anti-harassment policy.

Arango will miss the club’s next two regular-season games (Wednesday vs. the Los Angeles Football Club and Friday vs. the Colorado Rapids), as well as the MLS All-Star Game on July 24 and RSL’s first Leagues Cup match vs. Atlas FC on Aug. 1.

“Real Salt Lake’s Chicho Arango has been suspended for three RSL matches and the upcoming All-Star game for a violation of the MLS Anti-Harassment Policy,” RSL said in a statement Monday. “The Club has fully cooperated with Major League Soccer’s investigation and accepts the disciplinary decision.”

Arango, 29, is RSL’s club captain and leading scorer, and also leads the MLS with 17 goals this season. The Medellín, Colombia, native was voted by the fans to his first MLS All-Star Game in 2024.

His 17 goals ties the Real Salt Lake single-season record set by Álvaro Saboríos in 2012.

No other information about the policy violation was disclosed.
