RICHMOND, Va., Feb. 25 (UPI) — Donald Trump hinted that Hillary Clinton’s allegiance to President Obama was a sign of some sort of deal to avoid being charged for mishandling classified information as the Secretary of State.

“Boy, did you ever see anybody so nice to the president, though?” Trump asked a Virginia crowd at a Christian Broadcast Network forum. “‘Oh, the president is wonderful,’ she says. ‘Oh, the president, he’s great.’ Whatever he wants to do she says, ‘Oh, that’s wonderful. Whatever he wants.'”

He continued: “You know why she’s doing that, right? I know why. Boy oh boy she’s become like a marshmallow. Man, I tell you her life could not be so easy. But what she’s done is so wrong, so unfair. But it looks like she’ll be the nominee and nothing will happen.”

Trump echoed comments made by Sen. Bernie Sanders, D-Vt., that hinted Clinton’s recent embrace of Obama was disingenuous. Sanders recently prompted a backlash when he told BET that Clinton was aligning herself closely with Obama to endear herself to black voters.

Trump said if he were president, he would instruct the Attorney General to investigate Clinton’s use of a private email server during her time as Secretary of State.

“I would instruct them to take a look at it because it’s not really our call to say indict, but you’d have to take a look at it,” he said. “I would instruct my attorney general to please look at it if there’s something there, and there seems to be a lot there. They’re protecting her because she’s the number-one runner.”

The Justice Department is already in the midst of a months-long probe into Clinton’s email server, and has been reviewing every bulk release of the emails for the past several months. Earlier Wednesday, Attorney General Loretta Lynch promised not to heed calls for criminal charges against Clinton unless the evidence called for it.

Clinton’s email situation is currently under review by the State Department and by the FBI. State is also conducting a separate review of the Clinton Foundation, which includes Huma Abedin, Clinton’s long-time aide.
