ROY, Utah, April 9, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — A man is in custody after SWAT teams were called to his Roy home Monday morning following a family altercation, officials said.

Roy City Police Department spokesman Detective Josh Taylor told Gephardt Daily officials responded after family members got into an altercation at a residence in the area of 5800 S. 2600 West at approximately 7 a.m.

When police arrived on the scene, they found a male suspect had barricaded himself inside the home, Taylor said, and may have been armed.

SWAT teams were called to the residence, and nearby residents were asked to avoid the area or shelter in place.

The suspect exited the home approximately two hours later and was taken into custody without incident.

Taylor said the suspect is being interviewed, but it’s too early to say at this time whether he was in fact armed.
