Red Bull Introduces Extreme New Flavors

Red Bull is the highest selling energy drink in the world, and is hugely popular, especially among people with “extreme tastes” who are looking for a “burst of energy,” and who don’t mind having a “massive coronary.”

5.387 billion cans were sold in 2013 alone, and the company has recently released “The Red Bull Summer Edition,” a series of new flavors.

Patricia Radden, director of corporate communications for Red Bull in North America, spoke with Gephardt Daily and gave us some extreme answers to our totally extreme questions, and it left us with a burst of energy that will leave us bouncing off the walls for weeks to come.

“After performing exceptionally well as a limited edition in July and August of 2014, the Red Bull Summer Edition is now permanently joining the Red Bull Editions line as the Red Bull Yellow Edition,” Radden said, in what can only be described as an extreme manner. “Orange and wild cherry are among the highest-ranked flavors in U.S. flavor appeal studies.

Radden added that taste, sugar and calories are key energy category barriers. The new orange and cherry editions meet the growing consumer demand for zero-calorie flavored energy drink options – which, according to Nielsen data, accounts for 59 percent of overall energy category growth.  Is that extreme, or what?

“This is an expansion of our introduction of flavors in 2013 when we first introduced the Red Bull Editions,” said Radden.

According to Radden, the expansion demonstrates Red Bull’s commitment to offering consumers more choice, whether they are relying on Red Bull while working, traveling, studying, playing or juggling the daily demands of life.

“Since taste is a barrier to consumption within the energy drink category, these new flavors will continue to reach new users and encourage increased consumption among current consumers,” Radden said, shortly before our heads exploded in a blast of outrageously righteous awesomeness.

Red Bull is available in more than 166 countries around the world. Last year, more than 5.6 billion cans were consumed across the globe, with 2 billion of those consumed in the United States.
