MINNEAPOLIS, Minnesota, April 21, 2016 (Gephardt Daily) — Prince, the rock and roll superstar known worldwide for hits like “Little Red Corvette” and “Purple Rain” has died.
According to a spokesman for the Carver County Sheriff’s Office Prince’s body was found Thursday morning at his Paisley Park compound outside Minneapolis.
Prince’s publicist Noel-Schure confirmed the musician’s death in a written statement.
“It is with profound sadness that I am confirming that the legendary, iconic performer, Prince Rogers Nelson has died at his Paisley Park residence this morning at age 57. There are no further details as to the cause of death at this time.”
Prince made headlines a week ago when he suffered a medical emergency April 15 while flying in his private jet.
The plane made an emergency landing, but the performer appeared at a concert the next night and told fans he was alright.
