LOS ANGELES, March 1 (UPI) — Jacob Tremblay met several “Star Wars” favorites at the 2016 Oscars.
The 9-year-old actor, whose film “Room” was nominated for four Academy Awards, spent time with “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” star Daisy Ridley and the “Star Wars” droids at the ceremony.
“Met #Rey, she is awesome, but @daisyridley is even cooler! #oscars #roomthemovie #starwars,” he captioned a photo of himself with the 23-year-old actress on Instagram.
Ridley, who shared the same snapshot on her social media accounts, was equally impressed with Tremblay, writing, “One of the best parts of this weekend was meeting this guy.”
Tremblay also met the “Star Wars” droids CP30, R2D2 and BB-8. The young star posed with the characters backstage, writing, “My new squad! #squadgoals #oscars #starwars.”
Room ended up losing Best Picture to “Spotlight,” but Tremblay’s co-star, Brie Larson, won Best Actress for her role as Ma. “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” was nominated five times, including for Best Original Score, but didn’t walk away with any awards.
“Me and Mark [Hamill] have been rehearsing a lot, and it’s really amazing,” Ridley said of “Star Wars: Episode VIII” to MTV News on the red carpet. “It’s such a good story. Seriously. Luke [Skywalker] is so cool in this one.”
Tremblay played Jack Newsome in “Room” and was nominated for a Screen Actors Guild Award for best supporting male actor for the role in January. The young actor is slated for “The Book of Henry” with Lee Pace and Naomi Watts.
