READING, Pa., Sept. 18 (UPI) — Jon Gosselin has denied celebrating ex-wife Kate Gosselin‘s reported breakup.
The 38-year-old DJ set the record straight in a statement to Entertainment Tonight after Radar Online claimed Jon had joked about Kate’s rumored split from Jeff Prescott on Facebook.
“I have teenage kids now who are on social media,” he said. “They read everything, and the last thing I’m going to do is trash their mother.”
Jon had appeared to make light of the split by posting the celebration hands emoji on an article about the breakup. The DJ explained the comment was made by a fake account, and expressed his frustration with imposters sharing the “most ridiculous things.”
“My mom was like, ‘What?'” he said of the perceived slight to Us Weekly magazine. “I was like, ‘What are you talking about?'”
Jon and Kate were married from 1999 to 2009, and share eight children: 14-year-old twins Cara and Madelyn and 11-year-old sextuplets Aaden, Alexis, Collin, Hannah, Joel and Leah. Kate and the kids continue to star on TLC reality series Kate Plus 8.
The DJ was spotted with new girlfriend Colleen Conrad in July, whom he is said to have “instantly reconnected” with earlier this year. Kate was last linked to Prescott in May, and sources told ET the businessman left the star for another woman.
