LEHI, Utah, June 16, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — An early morning fire destroyed two homes and a trailer in Lehi early Saturday morning.
Lehi Battalion Chief Jake Beck told Gephardt Daily the 2-alarm fire was first reported at about 2:45 a.m.
When crews arrived, they found the homes at 708 W. 240 South and 649 W. 240 South on fire.
A travel-trailer parked between the homes was completely engulfed in flames.
Families in both residences escaped without serious injury, although one person was treated at the scene for smoke inhalation.
Beck said the fire appeared to start in the trailer before spreading to the homes.
He said one of the residences was a modular home with construction that posed a challenge for firefighters. Five hours after the blaze was first reported, the modular home continued to burn.
Beck described the other residence as a “traditional home” and said fire crews were able to knock down the flames there quickly, although the house was heavily damaged and likely a total loss.
The travel-trailer was reduced to rubble.
The Red Cross was called to help find shelter for the displaced families.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
