OGDEN, Utah, May 24, 2024 (Gephardt Daily) — No injuries were reported in an early morning fire Friday at a mixed-use building on Ogden’s historic 25th Street.

Ogden and Riverdale fire crews responded about 3:15 a.m. to three-story building in the 100 block of 25th Street, where they found fire and smoke coming from a basement door.

“Fire crews aggressively attacked the fire and had it extinguished quickly,” the Ogden City Fire Department said in a news release.

A sprinkler system in the building was activated and kept the fire at bay until crews arrived, the release says.

“The building also had a fire alarm that activated and alerted the residents,” according to the news release.

The sprinkler and alarm system prevented the fire from spreading and alerted all occupants to evacuate, fire officials said.

Smoke filled the basement and first floor, but residents were later able to return to the building.

Damage to the building is estimated at $10,000, officials said.

The fire is believed to be human-caused and remains under investigation.
