Five fire departments respond to structure blaze in Washington County

WASHINGTON COUNTY, Utah, Jan. 25, 2025 (Gephardt Daily) — Five fire departments were needed to throttle a pesky structure fire in Diamond Valley.    

Crews were called out at 9:55 a.m. for the Thursday blaze, according to Dammeron Valley Fire & Rescue, for the structure fire in Diamond Valley involving a stand-alone workshop.

“The structure was approximately 50% involved as crews began an aggressive exterior attack.

“The fire was contained within one hour and crews are still on scene performing mop-up and overhaul,” according to the release posted just before 3 p.m.

There were no injuries as a result of the fire, according to the release, and the cause is under investigation.

In addition to five units from the Dammeron department, crews from Diamond Valley Fire, St. George Fire Department, Santa Clara – Ivins Fire & Rescue, and Winchester Hills Fire responded, as well as a Gold Cross Ambulance, and the Washington County Sheriff’s Office.

“The fire is controlled,” the sheriff’s office posted online just before noon about the fire on Diamond Valley’s Sapphire Dr.

“No residential buildings were damaged.”

The unincorporated community of Diamond Valley is located on SR 18 in the canyon of the same name just above St. George.
