KANE COUNTY, Utah, July 26, 2021 (Gephardt Daily) — A flash flood warning has been issued for the town of Big Water and surrounding areas in Kane County Monday afternoon.
“Radar estimates up to 1″ of rain has fallen across mid and upper portions of Wahweap Creek,” said a tweet from the National Weather Service Salt Lake City.
“The flood wave is expected to track downstream through Big Water later this evening. If in this area, seek higher ground!”
The warning is in place until 11:30 p.m.
At 6:45 p.m., another flash food warning was issued, also for parts of Kane County. The tweet said: “Radar estimates up to 0.75 inches of rain have already fallen across Hole in the Rock Road, Wire Pass, and upper portions of Buckskin Gulch. The flood wave will eventually travel into the Paria Narrows at the Arizona border late this evening.”
Residents are being urged to not walk or drive through flood waters.
