SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, May 6, 2024 (Gephardt Daily) — Gov. Spencer Cox has ordered the lowering of Utah and United States flags at state facilities starting today.

The flags will be flown at half-staff in recognition of the death of Sgt. Bill Hooser of the Santaquin Police Department, who died in the line of duty.

The flags will remain lowered until sunset on the day of Hooser’s interment, when another notice will be issued saying flags can return to their usual position.

“The governor extends an invitation to all private citizens, businesses, and other organizations to participate in this recognition,” a statement from Cox’s office says.
