ZION NATIONAL PARK, Utah, June 21, 2025 (Gephardt Daily) — A Zion National Park hiker began to struggle with heat-related injuries on Friday, and was airlifted to a waiting ambulance for transport to an area hospital.
“Medical personnel from Zion were first on scene and provided initial care,” says a news release issued by Hurricane Valley Fire & Rescue.
“The patient was then airlifted by Star 8 and transferred to our ambulance crew for continued treatment and transport to the hospital.”
Star 8 is a Utah Department of Public Safety helicopter.
No information was released about the patient’s condition, but heat exhaustion and heat stroke, which become more common as temperatures rise during the summer months.
If not treated, they can have consequences ranging from muscle cramping and dizziness to organ failure and death.
