SALT LAKE COUNTY, Utah, Aug. 18, 2024 (Gephardt Daily) — Unified police responded to an apartment building Friday after one resident, who police say admitted to being intoxicated, allegedly forced his way into the apartment of another and touched her face and clothing.

Eddie Mora is being investigated for burglary of a dwelling, a second-degree felony, and aggravated assault, a third-degree felony, after the alleged incident at his neighbors’ apartment.

An affidavit says Mora reportedly went to the neighbors’ apartment, asked the female resident if her male partner was home, “then proceeded to advance on the victim, stepping inside the front door and blocking it with his foot so she could not close it.”

Mora then began “touching her face and clothing,” his arrest documents say.

The woman was holding a vape pen, and Mora reportedly took it from her hand “and told the victim if she wanted it back, she could come to his place and get it, and he would show her a good time.”

Once Mora had left, the affidavit says, the woman’s mother removed a young child from the apartment. Mora then reportedly returned and began knocking on the door again until the victim’s male partner came home and confronted Mora about the incident.

“The suspect then produced a knife and began chasing the second victim around the open space outside the apartment,” Mora’s affidavit says.

“When police arrived, the suspect threw the knife on the ground and surrendered.”

The Unified officer’s report says Mora has a history of alcohol abuse “and admittedly stated he should not be drinking.”

Mora was ordered held without bail in the Salt Lake County jail system.
