OREM, Utah July 23, 2024 (Gephardt Daily) — Police are now calling the case of an Orem man missing more than a week “suspicious.”

Orem Police detectives have issued a new alert on David Roe, 48, who went missing Monday, July 15. Roe’s online blog that day indicated “he was in the South Salt Lake area that day handing out cash and Gatorade as an act of goodwill.”

“The circumstances of the case are suspicious enough that his phone was pinged and an NCIC form filled out.” according to Orem’s alert Monday online.

NCIC is the National Crime Information Computer for national distribution of missing persons reports. Anyone with information is asked to call Orem police detective J. Villar, 801-229-7100 or 801-623-1556.

Saturday, the Cache County Sheriff’s Office issued a missing person alert for Roe, saying his last known location was Monday in Salt Lake City, where his credit cards were used.

Four days later, Roe’s 2001 Maroon Dodge Caravan was found near Hardware Ranch in Blacksmith Fork Canyon, east of Hyrum, the sheriff’s office said. The Hardware Ranch state elk preserve is located 18 miles up the canyon.

Roe is described as Caucasian with hazel eyes and brown hair, 6 feet 3 inches tall, and 135 to 165  pounds.

Cache County asked that anyone with information contact the Sheriff’s Office at 435-753-7555 and reference case #24-C6481.
