ROOSEVELT, Utah, Oct. 14, 2024 (Gephardt Daily) — Four days after the Medical Examiner determined that the body found in a car in Vernal was that of its missing owner, Kimberly Hyde, Roosevelt City’s police chief says he would like the public to be patient in asking for answers.
“Roosevelt City Chief of Police Mark J. Watkins wishes to address the recent rumors and public concerns surrounding the Kimberly Hyde case,” says a statement released Monday by the Roosevelt City Police Department and Chief Mark J. Watkins.
“While we are unable to release certain details at this time to protect the integrity of the investigation, we want to assure the community that there is no heightened threat to public safety connected with this case,” the statement continues. “Roosevelt residents remain safe.”
More information reportedly is coming.
“The Roosevelt City Police Department is committed to transparency and will provide further updates as soon as possible. We anticipate releasing more information by midweek. We recognize that this has been a challenging time for everyone in our community, and we sincerely appreciate your patience, support, and trust as we continue our work on this case.”
An obituary published for 60-year-old Hyde, of Roosevelt, says she died on Oct. 8, Monday of last week.
Hyde was found, deceased, in her vehicle in Vernal. The Vernal Police Department said in an Oct. 9 news release that “The cause and manner of death is currently under investigation, and further details will be forthcoming.”
