SOUTH JORDAN, UTAH – September 22, 2015 (Gephardt Daily) – Police think the driver of a car that ended up in a canal in South Jordan early this morning may have been under the influence of alcohol.

Unified Police spokesman Sgt. Jeff Andreason said Unified Police and Fire responded to the report of a car that struck a pole at 2420 West 11800 South at 2:40 a.m. Sgt. Andreason said the vehicle struck the pole on the north side of the road and entered the canal on the south side.

The male driver left on foot and authorities were unable to locate him. A 26-year-old female passenger was found safe and uninjured.

Sgt. Andreason said alcohol may have been a contributing factor in the accident.

We will have more on this developing story as it becomes available.
