MILLCREEK, Utah, July 27, 2024 (Gephardt Daily) — The Unified Police Department is asking the public’s help finding the suspect wanted in a Saturday morning auto-pedestrian crash that left the victim in critical condition.

The UPD says the hit-and-run happened about 5:56 a.m. at 3051 S. 2300 East.

Investigators say the victim was struck by a passing vehicle as they stepped out of their car to “render aid to a cat” they had accidentally hit.

Police believe other motorists may have witnessed the incident, including the occupant or occupants of “black box-type SUV” that stopped behind the victim’s car at about the time the hit-and-run happened.

In a surveillance video, seen below, two vehicles are seen in the upper left corner of the screen headed in opposite directions a few seconds apart. Moments later, a third vehicle, which appears to be a white pickup truck, passes the victim’s car.

Sgt. Aymee Race, public information officer for Unified Police told Gephardt Daily the vehicle that struck the victim may have damage to its front passenger side.

Race is asking anyone who may have seen a vehicle fleeing this area just before 6 a.m. or shortly thereafter to call police dispatchers at 801-840-4000 and reference case number CO24-70166.
