SOUTH SALT LAKE, Utah, March 7, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — A South Salt Lake man is facing more than a dozen charges after police found hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of stolen trailers, boats, Jet Skis, ATVs and a large amount of other stolen property in his yard Tuesday.
A news release from South Salt Lake Police Department public information officer Sgt. Gary Keller said Anthony Lee Cantrell, 38, from South Salt Lake, has been charged with 14 counts of second-degree felony receiving stolen property.
The news release said at approximately 8 a.m., a code enforcement officer from the police department located an abandoned trailer parked on the street at 66 W. Oakland Ave. (2450 South) and summoned police to impound the trailer.
“When police ran the serial number of the abandoned trailer, the serial number
indicated the trailer was stolen,” the news release said. “Police obtained a search warrant for the residence.”
A large amount of stolen property was then discovered in the backyard of the home.
“At this time officers and detectives are combing through and cataloging the stolen property to help determine where it came from and who it belongs to,” the news release said.
Police arrested and booked Cantrell into the Salt Lake County Jail in connection to the stolen property recovered.
When the investigation is completed, the case will be screened by the Salt
Lake County District Attorney’s Office for formal charges.
