TREMONTON, Utah, Jan. 29, 2025 (Gephardt Daily) — Tremonton’s Mayor confirmed Wednesday that the employment of Fire Chief Ned Brady Hansen was terminated after his arrest on alleged child exploitation charges.

“Based on serious criminal charges being filed against Chief Ned Brady Hansen, Tremonton City has terminated his employment, effective immediately,” Mayor Lyle Holmgren said in a message to Gephardt Daily.

City manager Bill Cobabe added that “Mr. Hansen’s employment with the city ended on Monday following his arrest.”

Cobabe also forwarded a statement from the City Attorney:

“Based on serious criminal charges being filed against Chief Ned Hansen, Tremonton City has terminated his employment, effective immediately. The criminal prosecution is being handled by the Utah Attorney General’s Office, meaning the City of Tremonton and the Tremonton/Garland Police Department do not have any information regarding the criminal investigation and criminal prosecution.

“However, from all indications, there is no relation between Mr. Hansen’s employment with the Tremonton Fire Department and the criminal charges with which he has been charged.”

Hansen, 54, was arrested for investigation of eight counts of sexual exploitation of a minor, a second-degree felony, after a CyberTipline report linked an email account of his that was allegedly used to share videos and images of child sexual abuse.

Because Hansen is a Tremonton City employee, he was interviewed by an officer from another municipality, Brigham City.

“I interviewed Brady Hansen who admitted to having possessed the videos identified in the Kik referral, and being the account subscriber identified by Kik,” the Brigham City Police officer wrote in charging documents.

“These videos had been saved on his phone. He was unsure if he had shared the videos with other users or received them from other users, but sharing content was something that he engaged in.

“He was arrested for eight counts of sexual exploitation of a minor, one count for each file shared according to Kik. Several phones and tablets were seized and will be forensically processed.”

Hansen was booked into the Box Elder County Jail.
