IRON COUNTY, Utah, Oct. 9, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — The Iron County Search and Rescue team assisted hunters stranded in a snowstorm east of Kanarraville Sunday night.
“A storm came in and blew snow drifts across the road closing it, stranding hunters,” said a Facebook post from Iron County Sheriff’s Search and Rescue. “Thanks to our crazy team members who ran up the mountain into the blizzard when everyone else was trying to get out.”
Iron County Sheriff’s officials said the rescue occurred in the Miners Peak area. Heavy snow, along with strong winds, caused the large drifts, and the hunters also had mechanical issues with their truck.
Officials said the hunters were experienced, but had not expected such a large storm so early in the year.
No one was injured in the course of the incident.
