IRON COUNTY, Utah, Nov. 9, 2022 (Gephardt Daily) — Iron County Sheriff‘s Search & Rescue volunteers responded late Sunday to a call for the snow team to help a man stranded by snow in his vehicle.

ICSSAR crews responded during a snowstorm to the area of Highway 14 and State Route 148.

“Seven ICSSAR snowmobile team specialist volunteers responded, along with the Iron County Sheriff’s Deputy, Cpl. Hilleger,” says a Facebook post issued by the group.

“The team used two trucks to transport the snowcat and four snowmobiles. As the team headed up SR14 they discovered the vehicles would be able to make it all the way to the coordinates of where the vehicle was reported stuck, so they left the snowmobiles at the midway junction.”

The team was able to clear the vehicle from the snow drift and followed the man down the mountain to ensure he was able to get out of the area safely.

“Please be aware our team’s priority is to rescue people, not vehicles,” the post says. “It is up to the responding team’s discretion if they are able to clear a vehicle from a precarious situation and feel comfortable with the occupant transporting the vehicle safely out of the area.”

A volunteer shared a video that shows the weather during the operation.
