LEHI, Utah, Oct. 22, 2024 (Gephardt Daily) — An explosion rocked a Lehi apartment building early Tuesday morning, causing injuries to the couple renting and the evacuation of the residents of 90 units.

The call came to dispatch at about 4:10 a.m. Lehi City Police and Lehi Fire responded to the scene, the Lehi Tech Apartments at 200 S. 1350 East.

“The couple was treated on scene for their minor injuries,” says a statement issued by Lehi Police. “They were not transported to the hospital. No other injuries have been reported.”

“Ninety families have been evacuated from the building, and the Lehi Tech Apartments are allowing the families to stay in unoccupied units away from the scene of the incident until they can return to their homes.

“The building will remain evacuated until the fire suppression system is restored and the apartments are deemed safe for reentry. It is currently unknown when residents can return to their homes.”

The cause of the explosion remained under investigation at the time of the news release, but “the circumstances are considered suspicious,” the Lehi PD statement says. “Further updates will be provided as more information becomes available.”
