WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah, Oct. 25, 2025 (Gephardt Daily) — An 18-year-old man is dead and a 16-year-old boy is hospitalized after an incident that happened outside a West Valley City Halloween party.
Lt. Longman, West Valley City Police, told Gephardt Daily officers responded to the scene, on Palmer Drive, at about 12:40 a.m. Saturday. There was a party involving youths and young adults, and a group of them had gathered outside.
An 18-year-old man died at the scene.
A 16-year-old boy was shot and wounded was transported to Primary Children’s Hospital, Longman said. “He is expected to survive, from what we understand.”
Officers originally believed the altercation involved people who had begun between people inside the house. A later update from WVCD shared a clarifications and additional details.

“Allen Montelongo (6/7/07) of Salt Lake City was in a vehicle driving while firing at a group that was standing outside in the roadway striking a 16-year-old male from Sandy.
“Someone from the group fired back at the vehicle striking Montelongo as he drove by,” the update says.

“Montelongo crashed into a fence and was pronounced dead on scene. The juvenile was transported to the hospital with multiple gunshot wounds…. The Homicide unit responded to the scene and conducted the investigation.”

Longman estimated about two dozen people were at the gathering.
“All relevant parties have been identified, and any applicable charges will be screened as appropriate,” the update says. “The shooting appears to be targeted with no outstanding threat to the community.”
